The Interventional Radiology (IR) department provides an excellent opportunity to advance your nursing skills in a stimulating and challenging environment. We are looking for candidates who are interested in the specialty, are keen to learn, work well in a small team, are focused on patient satisfaction and have the ability to participate in the on-call roster.
As a nurse in IR, you will use a multitude of your skills, including patient care and medication management, all while ensuring the patient has a positive experience during their procedure. IR staff are rostered Monday – Friday 0800 – 1630hrs and all take part in an on-call service for after-hours cases.

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
a minimum of 2 years nursing experience in a tertiary hospital
excellent communication and time management skills
a strong quality focus
the ability to work effectively in a fast paced and technically complex environment
the ability to participate in an on-call roster 24/7
be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic individual
a current NZ Nursing Registration and be ready to start immediately
Preference will be given to those who have experience in:
Managing a patient under conscious sedation
Managing a deteriorating patient

The nursing and multi-disciplinary team is supportive, dynamic and flexible, working collaboratively to provide quality care to patients within our region. IR caters to all specialties and performs a wide range of minimally invasive procedures, which rely on the use of radiological image guidance (x-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT). In the majority of procedures, patients are awake or lightly sedated.
