Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Starship Children’s Hospital (Auckland), the leading provider of child health care in New Zealand and the South Pacific is seeking a Paediatric Anaesthetist to join our team. The exact start date is flexible and negotiable with the successful candidate. This role is due to retirement, and planned service expansion.
This role is for a specialist paediatric anaesthetist wanting to contribute clinically to care across the full spectrum of surgical disciplines in children, excluding paediatric cardiac surgery.
The Department of Paediatric Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine manages approximately 15,000 cases per year, including work outside of the operating room where we have a busy workload encompassing radiology, interventional procedures, and radiotherapy. We also deliver day-case surgery to our local community on a separate site. This workload is supported internally by both a pre-assessment service and a dedicated acute pain team. We maintain close relationships with large PICU and NICU teams serving our community locally and nationally.
Specific time is provided within the role to support non-clinical activities, and members of the team are active locally, nationally, and internationally in teaching, education, quality improvement and research.
A successful applicant would join a team of 30 Consultants, 4 Fellows and 7 Registrars at the leading provider of tertiary paediatric care for New Zealand and the South Pacific.
