Diabetes Specialist Dietitian - Fixed Term - Health NZ Taranaki
We have an amazing opportunity to join the Taranaki Diabetes Integrated team as a Diabetes Specialist Dietitian, covering parental leave. This role is a dietetic role requiring knowledge and skills in all aspects of diabetes care. The Diabetes Specialist Dietitian is a core clinical position that supports people living with diabetes and their whānau. In line with our new model of integrated care, the role will work collaboratively across partner organisations from multiple locations including the hospital environment, community and within general practice clinics.
You will provide dietetic assessment, intervention and education that is effective and responsive to the holistic needs of people with diabetes and their family/whanau, where patient voice remains central in their journey towards self-management. You will carry a caseload of patients and provide cover as required for your colleague(s) to ensure delivery of an equitable service for patients throughout Taranaki.
Your creativity, and relationship building skills will be utilised to increase engagement with priority groups.
The ability to deliver quality nutrition education for diabetes management is considered a core competency for this role, enhancing the health provider community’s understanding of effective nutrition intervention for people with diabetes.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and the ability to challenge, inspire, influence, enable and encourage others.

Moū - About you
· Are a NZ Registered Dietitian with a current annual practising certificate
· Have Dietitian Prescriber Endorsement
· Have a full and current drivers’ licence
· Have a minimum of five years’ postgraduate experience in clinical, primary care and community settings
· Have recent clinical experience in diabetes management
· A commitment to achieving health equity for Māori
· Have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
· Have experience in patient and staff education
