Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Our Cardiothoracic surgical unit at Auckland City Hospital is the highest volume unit in Australasia. We have an an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join out dedicated team of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, as well as Registrars, House Officers and Nurses. The ability to cover the full range of emergency surgery is essential due to the high amount of this work for the on-call surgeon.
We provide tertiary care predominately for the Auckland and Northern region, as well as providing care for high-risk patients across New Zealand. We are the National Heart & Lung transplant Unit.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
The ideal candidate will be a senior Surgeon with both Cardiac and Thoracic surgery skills.
- You will have or be eligible for vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council in Cardiothoracic Surgery and ideally be a member of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
- Experience in heart and lung transplantation is desirable
- Strong research experience and an interest in developing this interest in the department are desirable
