About the role

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team which provides specialist assessment and management to services and teams at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals for people with concurrent physical and mental health needs.


This is an exciting position that provide essential psychology consultation to the team, as well as assessment, treatment planning and therapy, with the opportunity for further development of the role. Alongside specialised clinical psychological input to some medical teams including the Emergency Department, general mental health assessment and consultation will be required as part of being a functioning member of the MDT.

About You

We are looking to recruit a clinical psychologist with:

  • Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Psychology or equivalent
  • Proven psychological, psychometric and neuropsychological assessment skills
  • Experience working within a CBT and DBT framework and/or in other particular evidence based interventions and therapy modalities
  • Sound skills in mental health assessment, treatment and safety planning
  • The ability to work autonomously, ideally with some experience in care coordination
  • The ability to be a team player and work in partnership with multiple disciplines and departments

The Clinical Psychologist role is supported by a professional senior (Principal Psychologist Adult MHS) and the Psychology Professional and Clinical Lead within Mental Health Services. You will also be part of a broader team of 30 psychologists across adult mental health services. Under the APEX collective contract psychologists receive between $2500-4500 each per year for Continuing Professional Development which can be accumulated over two years. This offers the chance to attend overseas conferences or multiple workshops, plus books, and subscriptions each year.
