Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are looking for a Needs Assessor to join our Family Options service to provide assessment of care needs for children with complex and long term medical conditions, within the context of their family, whānau and home environment.
The Family Options programme services the Auckland, Counties Manukau, Northland and Waitematā Districts and focuses on the co-ordination of innovative solutions in the provision of respite care for children who are medically fragile and/or technologically dependent in their own home. The Needs Assessor joins the central team of Starship Community and is a main contributor to this Regional Programme.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
To be successful you will:
- Be a registered clinician with a current NZ annual practicing certificate
- Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
- Have a relevant clinical background of at least 5+ years.
- Have a full, clean and current New Zealand driver’s licence as this role will involve driving a Health NZ pool car.
- Be an experienced clinician with a passion for paediatrics
- Have commitment to our organisational values

We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Child Health.
Starship Child Health is a dedicated paediatric healthcare service, providing family centred care to neonates, children and young people throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. Starship Community is a multidisciplinary team of professionals providing nursing, allied health (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech language therapy, dietetics), technical and cultural support to children, young people and their families living within the Auckland area.
