Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking a registered social worker, with a passion for and or experience in the area of Mental Health to join our team. This full-time position offers a supportive environment with opportunities for professional development and a chance to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with mental health needs. Ideal candidates will possess the necessary knowledge in relation to social work theories and models of practice, assessment and case planning skills, a commitment to Te Tiriti, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and stakeholders.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
Te Whare Ahuru provides services for people experiencing an episode of acute mental illness that requires a safe environment with intensive nursing and medical treatment.
The team offers specialist services for people with moderate to severe mental health problems, and offer assessment, treatment and support to assist the individual and their whanau and other support people in their recovery journey with the aim of supporting people back to having their health care provided in primary health care services. The focus of the service is on providing evidenced based treatment interventions for those people who present with more complex needs and higher risks.
The multi-disciplinary team consists of Psychiatrists, registrars, house surgeons, occupational therapists, social workers, nurses and mental health support workers.

Applicants should have:
- Current Practising Certificate.
- Mental Health experience and resilience in a very busy environment.
- Are team focused and have positive attitude.
- Have excellent time management and communication skills.
- The ability to problem solve and remain calm while dealing with challenging cases.
