Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
As the Alcohol and Other Drugs Clinician your primary purpose is to:
- Provide brief AOD assessments to clients in the Court setting.
- Provide the Judge with a summary of the findings along with appropriate recommendations
- Liaise with other AOD services for the purpose of referrals when required.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
The regional arm of Te Korowai-Whāriki includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings - prisons, courts, community, and inpatient. The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to defendants charges with criminal offences and offenders who have psychiatric illness.
Moū - About you
We are looking for a clinician who is interested in and committed to improving the health and well-being, and future prospects of people affected by alcohol and other drug use. Participation into service development is also essential.
This AOD appointment is based within the Lower Hutt Court with weekly travel required to provide AOD Counselling to community clients with the Forensic Community Mental Health Service.
Applicants must have:
- a recognised health professional qualification and registration, e.g. Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Counselling.
- Or Registered member of DAPAANZ (Drug and Alcohol Practitioners Association of Aotearoa NZ)
- Experience in alcohol and drug counselling in a health setting
- Current driver - s license
