We're looking for a Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor passionate about improving the wellbeing of Aotearoa. There is an ambitious programme of work underway to deliver better outcomes for our kiritaki (clients) and prevent accidents from taking place. We're looking for an experienced senior advisor to drive engagement strategies and deliver this important mahi.'

This role will help us deliver this purpose, by working with different areas of the organisation to improve the way we reach and engage with Māori and all New Zealanders, lift awareness of the support we provide, and drive business outcomes.'It will support us in achieving the goals of our 10-year strategy, Huakina Te Rā, which is underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi/The Treaty of Waitangi.
What we're looking for'
As a senior advisor to the business, you will be comfortable collaborating with leaders across ACC to understand their business problems and develop customer communications and marketing solutions that will deliver results.'
To be effective, you'll be comfortable pushing back on requests for support that will take your focus and attention away from higher-impact initiatives.'
You'll know how to lead integrated mahi but will also be motivated and energised by rolling-up your own sleeves and getting stuck into the doing yourself. You'll do this in collaboration with the broader team, including content creators, sponsorship and brand advisors, digital marketers and media engagement specialists.
This role requires someone who is comfortable in complex and at times ambiguous environments, able to rely on their experience and questioning skills to get to the bottom of what needs to be done. Based on this, we're looking for someone with solid experience in senior communications, looking for a role they can own and make a difference in.'
Engagement with Māori
This role will support our efforts to improve outcomes for our kiritaki, with a focus on Māori. The role is key to ensuring our kiritaki and whānau are aware of the services available to them. This includes raising awareness of services like Hāpai and our Kaupapa Māori Navigation Service, and supporting our by-Māori, for Māori campaign Kia Mahea Kia Puāwai.
In support of wider mahi across the team, this role will also provide specialist cultural advice across sponsorship and events, and support injury prevention marketing mahi as required.
In addition to the above skills, the following would be an advantage:
- Knowledgeable in Māori culture and values
- Good understanding of te reo Māori me ngā tikanga
- Existing knowledge and experience in Māori focused communications and channels
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with a wide range of Māori and non-Māori audiences
- Marketing and social media experience would be advantageous as we promote and expand our services across the motu.
