- Full-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
- Fixed-term position (3 years)
Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in CNRE you will apply specialist research-related skills in renewable energy engineering, undertake research-related tasks and contribute towards externally-funded projects, including the Megaton Carbon Removal research program and the Pūhiko Nukutū Hydrogen Geostorage research program.
These research programs are five-year projects funded by the Ministry for Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE). The position is fully supported by this funding. The role will require you to collaborate with other Researchers and may be responsible for other aspects of the research project.
Mōu | Who You Are
To be successful in this role you will require expert knowledge in geothermal systems, carbon dioxide removal and/or techno-economic assessment, as well as:
- a PhD degree in the field renewable energy engineering, or a Master's degree plus close to obtaining a PhD, is required
- demonstrable experience of excellent research capabilities required to carry out innovative and insightful research
- a publication track record as well as experience with preparation and delivery of quality oral presentations to a wide range of audiences is essential
- a proven ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts (both orally and in writing) to a wide variety or groups including scientific and non-scientific audiences
- ability and willingness to undertake collaborative research
- ability to relate well to and mentor students
- actively and constructively participates in discussions on own performance
- demonstrate an understanding of multicultural issues and display a commitment to The Treaty of Waitangi.

Upon appointment, if the Doctoral qualification is yet to be awarded, the title of Research Associate will be applied and the salary will reflect the Research Associate salary scale.
Appointable salary scale for a Post Doctoral Fellow is $75,000 - $90,000 (pa)
Appointable salary scale for a Research Associate is $70,000 - $75,000 (pa)
