Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Role
How do you get the best value for money from the national budget for pharmaceuticals?
Essentially, this is the critical question that our Therapeutic Group Managers seek to address from rigorous clinical, economic, and commercial analysis of funding proposals to working effectively with clinicians and leading complex contract negotiations and the development of business cases. It's all about making real, tangible improvements to the lives of New Zealanders and helping ensure health sector resources are used as effectively as possible.
In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for managing Pharmac's funding activities within a range of therapeutic groups. You will analyse clinical, economic and commercial market data to develop funding proposals, and lead contract negotiations with pharmaceutical companies.
This is a real opportunity to be at the core of our operations; influencing the practical intersect of evidence-based medicine, economics, and commerce.
Mōhou ake | About you
Kua rite koe mō tēnei mahi? Are you ready to make a difference? Are you solution focused and comfortable working in a fluid and sometimes unpredictable environment? Are you motivated by contributing towards the quality of life of all New Zealanders?
Your high level of analytical ability and problem solving will be critical when presenting clear business cases derived from complex scientific/clinical data, non-financial information, and financial data.
Your ability to work with ease with clinicians and senior stakeholders will be essential to your success within this role.
You may be currently working in a clinical role, health-related management or within the pharmaceutical industry. It will be essential that you can write to a high level and make recommendations in a succinct and detailed way. In addition to your pharmaceutical and/or health sector knowledge, you will bring proven project management and commercial negotiation abilities and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
The role has a level of autonomy and applicants will need to be self-driven to manage time-pressured work but also need to work as part of a team. You will be part of the Pharmaceutical Funding team and supported to learn and succeed in our fast paced and dynamic workplace. We would aim to assign you to a therapeutic group you have some familiarity with.
Ko wai koe? | Who are you?
In your application we invite you to share who you are, your personal values, your whakapapa, as well as your interests and motivations in applying for this role. We are interested to learn about your personal attributes, experiences and the diverse perspectives you could bring to the role and Te Pātaka Whaioranga. We acknowledge attributes may extend to having been gained outside of the workforce and encourage you to share these in your application.
