Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
An opportunity to work in General Paediatrics at Waikato Hospital in New Zealand has arisen to cover one of our current SMO’s on sabbatical leave for a period of 3 months.
We are seeking a general paediatrician to join our dedicated team of paediatricians who are committed to providing excellent service to the tamariki/children in the Waikato. The position includes participation in the on-call roster and general paediatric outpatient clinics. The role also has designated time for undergraduate teaching and supervision.
As a service, our highest priorities include commitment to equity-based service delivery, excellence of paediatric care, optimal team-based working and teaching and training of junior doctors.
To apply for this position, you must hold or be eligible to apply for a vocational scope of practice in Paediatrics with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Mōu | About you
Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:
- Vocational registration in a medical speciality
- Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand with scope of practice
- A practising certificate with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
