The Regulatory Services Group has oversight of two large regulatory systems: Anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism, and Gambling, and one smaller regulatory system: Private Security Personnel. An exciting opportunity exists to join the Investigations team on a fixed term basis ending 31 October 2025.
The Investigator role supports the work of the Investigations team within Regulatory Services and is responsible for conducting serious and complex gambling related investigations. The Investigations team also perform the functions of the Complaints, Investigation and Prosecution Unit (CIPU) relating to the investigation of security operators under the Private Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010. We work collaboratively with business units in DIA and with external law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
This role will have focus on the CIPU work programme.
You will appreciate that investigations are an important tool in achieving favourable outcomes that ultimately benefit the community. You will have excellent relationship management skills that enable you to work with other investigators and stakeholders across the systems. Ideally you will have:
- successful experience in managing investigations through to prosecution;
- superior communication skills, especially evidential interviewing and relationship building;
- a strong understanding of regulatory theory and sound experience of regulatory practice;
- the ability to drive investigations to timely and appropriate outcomes.
- Strong health and safety focus and training in situational awareness and tactical communication;
Occasional travel, evening and weekend work is required.
