Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) at a time of new focus and emphasis on maintenance and operation of roading and state highways infrastructure.
As a Network Manager for the Manawatu-Whanganui and Taranaki network, you will become the subject matter expert for our state highways in these regions. You will be responsible for managing third party access onto the network and assessing third party development applications, working to ensure asset outcomes are not compromised by other's work through innovative thinking and solutions focused problem solving.
The role will use your strong analytical and network and asset management skills to ensure NZTA is successful in delivering a safe transport system to our customers, while delivering value for money.
This position is based in Palmerston North working alongside great people who are passionate about what we do every day for NZTA, and most of all, to benefit our communities so they can move safely and efficiently to work, school or for recreation.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- corridor management knowledge
- ability to assess State Highway control functions and activities
- road asset management experience and understanding of life cycle management is beneficial
- experience in roading project management is beneficial
- understanding of financial monitoring, accruals and forecasting
- good performance monitoring and management
- strong supplier, partner and stakeholder relationship skills
- customer service experience
- proficiency in quality for delivery of maintenance
- good understanding of safety and resilience for our communities
- team building skills to support our Maintenance and Operations team

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
