About the role
Every day is different. As a valued member of the Hauora Māori team, you become part of the Multi Disciplinary Team, Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health professionals just to name a few. We work together to reach the best outcome for the tūroro and whānau.
This role's primary responsibility is to assist tūroro (patients) through the hospital system and make the journey as smooth as possible. Be present, with tūroro permission, at appointments or bedside consultations to be a set of ears for the tūroro or whānau. Put in place where and when required and with tūroro permission, community supports.

About You
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- To assist in developing an environment of opportunity and choice for tūroro and whānau consistent with Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Provide guidance, support, and facilitation to Māori patients to deliver a quality bi-cultural service
- Record and complete in a timely manner, patient interactions in clinical records to agreed standards to aid treatment planning
- Provide Health information/education to Māori patients and whānau to enhance recovery and support positive changes in behaviours
- Build and maintain
collaborative relationships for benefit of Māori patients and whānau

Your skills will include:
- Intermediate computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated and able to multitask
- Work with a wide range of people and organisation
- An understanding and knowledge of Te Reo and Tikanga Māori
- Demonstrate a high level of personal discipline and professionalism
- Substantial experience in Māori health or social sectors, and community development
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
