HOSPITAL SPECIALIST DENTIST - CASUAL
Tairāwhiti is looking for a Casual Hospital Specialist Dentist, who is registered with the Dental Council of New Zealand.
You will be part of the dedicated oral health team within Tairāwhiti and provide specialist clinical services, act as a knowledgeable resource person and work closely with the Principal Dental Officer, Oral Health Service Manager and group Manager to ensure the service needs are met and equity is improved.
TO ENABLE WHĀNAU TO FLOURISH, ACROSS TAIRĀWHITI AND THE EAST COAST.
Focus:
- To prevent and reduce admission of adults with Oral health needs and lead clinical pathways
- To achieve the MOH guidelines for hospital dental service's
- To deliver Specialist Dental services to adults, mainly in ED/hospital/theatre or outpatient settings
- Provision of dental care for adults under general anaesthesia if required
- Leads quality and education with clinical leadership/in partnership with managers and clinicians
- Works to improve equity and integrate the Tairāwhiti way of working, to enable whānau to flourish
- To assist in developing the Hospital Specialist Dental Service
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience in Te Whatu Ora Hospital Specialist Dentist Role
- Bachelor in Dentistry and registration with DCNZ
- A current annual practicing certificate
- Post graduate qualification in Community Dentistry/Public Health Dentistry/Special Needs Dentistry/Paediatric Dentistry would be advantageous
- Minimum of 1-2 years of post-graduate work experience
- Experience in Tertiary or Secondary Hospital or Community based clinics treating adults, adolescents and pregnant women
- Understand Legislation; including contractual arrangements pertaining to publicly-funded dental care for Hospital Specialist Services
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bi-cultural issues in health service delivery
- Understanding of Whānau Ora models and its role in improving access for Māori
- Excellent communication skills; written and verbal essential
- Ability to respond to whānau need
- Computer skills; excel, Microsoft word, exact and Titanium
- Proven organisational skills
- Current Drivers License essential
- A 'whatever it takes' approach
