About the role
Te Awakura (part of the Adult Inpatient Group) is a 64-bed
adult acute inpatient unit that provides 24-hour care to tangata
whaiora experiencing acute mental
illness. Our model of care primarily focuses on integrated multidisciplinary
teams who strive to provide excellent care to tāngata whaiora in the least
restrictive manner.
The West inpatient unit provides services to people who live in the West of Christchurch. It is a busy and thriving environment with 16 beds in total. The team works closely with the community adult team and other community providers. We are passionate clinicians who work within a recovery framework, always with people - s best interests at the centre of what we do. The West inpatient team culture is supportive and encourages opportunities for growth and development.
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join us on a full-time permanent basis.
About You
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the facilitation of the therapeutic programme, including individual and group-based interventions in collaboration with other members of the MDT and the programme coordinator
- Completing occupational therapy assessments and formulating interventions to meet individual strengths and minimise vulnerabilities.
- Contributing to MDT treatment planning and discharge planning, including actively supporting community integration.
- Demonstrating good communication skills supporting effective team functioning.
- Working with tangata whaiora to enable optimum safety and function during this phase of their recovery.
- Working with tangata whaiora from diverse social and cultural backgrounds and bring your enthusiasm and passion to achieve the best outcome.
Skills and experience
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage a varying caseload;
- As an effective communicator you will have a positive, engaging and solution focussed attitude to your work;
- Sound computer and technological literacy is advantageous;
- NZ Registered Occupational Therapist with current Annual Practicing Certificate (essential);
- As some community work is required in this position you will need to transport passengers so a full class driver - s license is required.
