About the Role:
As a Sterile Service Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring patient safety by providing clean, sterile, and fully functional medical instruments for use in healthcare procedures. Working within a Sterile Services Department, you will be responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical and medical equipment.
This role requires a high level of precision and attention to detail, as you will be handling sensitive medical instruments that are essential for surgeries and medical treatments. You will operate specialist cleaning and sterilization machinery, ensuring that all equipment meets strict infection control and hygiene standards.

About the Team/Service/ Location:
As part of the Sterile Services Team, you will be working in a fast-paced, supportive, and highly regulated environment where teamwork is essential. Our team plays a vital role behind the scenes, ensuring that all medical and surgical instruments are cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use in patient care.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues to maintain high standards of hygiene and efficiency, following strict infection control protocols to safeguard both patients and healthcare professionals. Every member of the team is valued for their contribution, and we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, precision, and patient safety.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Experience working in a sterile services or healthcare environment (preferred but not essential).
- Knowledge of decontamination and sterilization procedures (training provided if required).
- A strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
