Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking an experienced registered nurse who is passionate about improving the experience for patients with a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of cancer. You will be working with the Cancer Nurse Co-ordination Team who work across the continuum of health care, actively interacting with diagnostic and treatment services to improve cancer patients - health outcomes. You will be a key contact for patients and assist with reducing barriers, so they reach treatment within recommended timeframes.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference to patients and whanau affected by cancer.
Duties
- Be an agent for change to achieve greater equity of outcomes.
- Provide care co-ordination and track patients - journeys.
- Identify barriers or gaps in pathways, seek solutions and intervene as appropriate.
- Work with services to build sustained, quality improvements into FCT targets.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
This role is focused on the first 31& 62 days of the patient pathway, from referral with high suspicion of cancer through to definitive treatment. You will work on individual tumour streams working alongside clinical teams, assisting with early referral to supportive care and participating in multi-disciplinary meetings. You will be part of an enthusiastic and supportive team with opportunities for professional development.

Skills & Experience
- Essential Professional Qualifications / Accreditations / Registrations skills and experience:
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
- A current APC and scope appropriate to place of work
- Demonstrates an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in the nursing role
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- A personal commitment to on-going learning and development including attainment/maintenance of PDRP
- Post Graduate Certificate, working towards Post Graduate Diploma
- At least 3-4 years - experience as an RN
- Demonstrated capability in a nursing leadership
- Experience in leading quality improvement initiatives
- Development, implementation and monitoring of policies, audits, protocols and guidelines
