About the Role
Working in partnership with the General Manager Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services, Clinical Director of Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Services (ARFPS) and Divisional Leadership Team (DLT) including the Associate Directors of Nursing and Associate Director of Allied Health, Equity Lead, Lived Experience Professional Lead, the Director is accountable for the efficient and effective running of the Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services to:
- Lead the Waitematā District Mental Health & Addictions Team to deliver against the National Health New Zealand Mental Health and Addictions Targets
- Develop and deliver contemporary, multi-disciplinary models of care.
- Develop the strategic direction for specialist mental health and addiction services.
- Establish strong partnerships with primary and private health providers and Maori, Pacific and Asian communities to provide specialist psychiatric services and to provide guidance with respect to mental health services that respond to the needs of Waitematā District consumers and contribute to reducing inequalities in health.
- Develop sustainable services and deliver on budget, revenue and activity targets
About the Service
As the largest Mental Health service in the country, Waitematā District has the responsibility for the provision of District Mental Health services to over 650,000 people. The services include:
- Adult Mental Health Services
- Child, Youth and Family Mental Health Services
- Takanga a Fohe
- Whitiki Maurea
- Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) (Regional)
- Mental Health Services for Older Adults (MHSOA)
- Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service (Regional)
About you
You will be a senior leader who is committed to making a difference in the care of our population. As a clinical leader with executive and governance experience in the community and/or inpatient mental health setting, and with a vocational registration in Psychiatry, you will
- understand and be able to navigate the complexities and demands of the strategic and operational management of Mental Health and Addictions Services
- value an integrated sector wide approach to client recovery in partnership with primary and NGO colleagues
- lead a team of top professionals to achieve the District priorities of better health outcomes and an enhanced client experience
