About the Role
As a Patient Support Security Worker working in the Emergency Department (ED), you will focus on working with staff to best meet the needs of patients and their whānau accessing our services. You will also assist our teams to ensure that we continue to provide a welcoming and safe environment.
The working hours are 48 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE) over the days of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 8.00PM to 4.30AM. It would be ideal if you had the flexibility to work additional shifts from time-to-time, covering staff leave.

About you
As a Patient Support Security Worker in ED, you will display a rational and calm manner and have the skills to effectively de-escalate difficult situations whilst promoting a safe and therapeutic environment. You will be able to relate well to patients and their visitors as well as be able to work with the clinical team and follow directions.
Previous experience in security, or a related industry is preferred. However, this is not essential as training will be provided.
Additionally you will have:
- empathy and a non-judgemental attitude towards patients and members of the public
- the ability to relate with ease to people from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds
- the ability to recognise and pass on issues that may affect patient welfare
- a good level of physical fitness and mobility
- eligibility to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
