About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
- We are looking for a curriculum specialist in Arts
- 1 Fixed term, full-time positions available
- The fixed term ends on 31st March 2026
The Curriculum Designer role sits in the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme which is a key unit within Te Poutāhū Curriculum Centre. The Programme works in partnership with other Te Poutāhū business units to enable the products and outcomes delivered from these projects to move into the business for ongoing delivery, maintenance, and support.
Curriculum Designers play a crucial role in ensuring that all requirements and Quality Criteria / Definition of Done have been built so there is nothing left to chance in the design of products for the learning area.
They provide quality assurance testing of the developed products to ensure they meet the quality standards required. The Curriculum Designer works closely with the workstreams within the programme to ensure alignment across the Programme.
Salary range: $118,371 - $143,760 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
To be successful in this role you will bring the following:
- Ability to build relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes in a complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience working in programme/project environments.
- Understanding of The New Zealand Curriculum.
- Knowledge of the NCEA Review of Achievement Standards
- Ability to write clearly for a variety of audiences and communicate complex information simply.
- Facilitation experience in person and online
- Understanding of educational change and implementation practices that will support teachers and students to understand and use the products.
- Cultural knowledge and competency to build relationships and operate in te ao Māori and Māori communities where needed
You will also offer:
- Curriculum specialism in the Arts Learning Area.
- A qualification in Education specialising in the primary and/or secondary sector.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
The Curriculum Designer team works collaboratively with other kaimahi and is responsible for assisting in the design and building of the requirements for New Zealand Curriculum. This will be used as the base to develop all Curriculum products required within the Programme
The Curriculum Designer team is made up of highly experienced education professionals with a range of specialisms. The working environment is hybrid with the opportunity to work from home twice a week.
