Te Puni Kōkiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Māori. This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analyst in our Monitoring & Evaluation team for someone with a strong IDI background. The Monitoring & Evaluation Team sits within the wider Data, Insights, Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate. We are a friendly team focused on improving outcomes for Māori. The team has a strong focus on providing robust evidence and insights to improve the delivery of public services to, and for, Māori. We have a strong mandate to influence system change. You will work collaboratively across the Ministry and across government on important kaupapa.
Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity
The Monitoring and Evaluation team has responsibility for the monitoring work programme at Te Puni Kōkiri in its legislated role to monitor and liaise with public service agencies to ensure the adequacy of services provided to Māori. The team also plays a part in providing evaluative expertise to ensure that policies and programmes to support Māori are achieving their objectives. The team works collaboratively across Te Puni Kōkiri, and with external agencies, to provide evidence-informed insights, which allow us to better understand where we can influence system level change.
The Senior Advisor will contribute to and lead a range of projects across the Monitoring and Evaluation work programme. They will work collaboratively with kaimahi and stakeholders within Te Puni Kōkiri and across government. Through their work, they will ensure Te Puni Kōkiri is positioned to influence system change to improve outcomes for Māori.
The likely appointment range is $104,056 (90%) - $115,617 (100%). The full salary range for the role is $104,056 - $138,741 (120%)
Mōu | About you
You will have:
- Experience in analysing and manipulating large data sets, including experience in use of the IDI.
- A high standard of written and verbal communication.
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and critical reasoning skills
- Strong relationship management skills to quickly build and maintain relationships within and outside Te Puni Kōkiri
- Understanding of the role Te Puni Kōkiri plays in driving system change
- Broad understanding of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and recognise the importance of the Treaty from both Māori and Crown perspectives.
- Comfortable in a te ao Māori environment and are comfortable in situations where tikanga is observed.
- Having a working knowledge and awareness of compliance obligations in respect of the Official Information Act 1982(OIA) that includes compiling and processing responses to OIA requests
