Palliative Care - Clinical Nurse Specialist at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley, Wellington Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Part Time 0.8 FTE - Mon-Fri

About the Role

As a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be working within a busy and dynamic team, providing specialist palliative care to those within Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals. The salary for this role is NZNO MECA Senior Nurse Salary, Grade 2 pro rata.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Practitioner, Registrar and Palliative Care Consultants work across our acute hospital settings, providing a consultative model of care. This role is predominantly located at Wellington hospital. We do run two half day sessions a week at Kenepuru hospital, and there may be opportunity to support with these sessions in future. 

The Hospital Palliative Care service at Capital and Coast receive in excess of 900 referrals a year from our hospital based colleagues. We provide specialist support and advice to other hospital teams and services who provide the person - s primary medical care in hospital. 

Supporting our Registered Nurse colleagues with palliative and end of life care is a priority for our Clinical Nurse Specialist team, and we provide a number of study days across the year to support their learning needs. 

About you

At least 5 years post-registration Registered Nursing practice is required, preferably within Acute hospital services, or palliative care services. 

  • Registered Nurse current Annual Practicing Certificate 
  • Palliative Care Nursing experience preferred, but not required 
  • Postgraduate diploma in Nursing Studies (or greater) or working towards. Support may be offered to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in Palliative Care if appropriate 
  • A collaborative team member, strong communication skills
