Mō te tūnga | About the role
You will be working with high performing staff from across the Counties Manukau District and will be responsible for looking after our people and ensuring that they are safe and enabled. As a Supervisor of Forensic Services, you will be coordinating and managing the staffing and resources required for day-to-day crime scene examinations across Counties Manukau district.
You will be building and maintaining working relationships with internal and external work groups and agencies. You and your team will be striving for excellent service delivery and continuous improvement while working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage a team to deliver on Our Business.
- Mentor and train staff in crime scene examination.
- Plan, co-ordinate and deploy resources to demand.
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Experience in crime scene examination covering a wide variety of offences.
- Knowledge of and experience in exhibit handling, packaging, and processing.
- Familiar with Fingerprint / Scene of Crime Office laboratory procedures and crime scene safety.

- Current CPK at the rank of the vacancy you are applying for:
- For both Constabulary & Police Employees:
- Agree to enrol in a leadership programme at the advertised level, at a future date or
- Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for.
- The successful applicant must be either: qualified as a Forensic Photographer according to the Photography Career Structure, Schedule 11 in the Constabulary Employees Collective Employment Agreement;
- Or qualified within the Crime Scene Examiners' Career Structure as a Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) 2; or be actively undertaking the Crime Scene Examiners' study programme to complete the Diploma of Police Crime Scene Examination; or have an equivalent relevant forensic qualification (as determined by National Forensic Services).
- The successful applicant must have a minimum of 5 years Police Forensic Photography experience; or a minimum of 5 years experience of Crime Scene Examination as a Scene of Crime Officer, including serious crime scene examination.
This role is set at Team Leader/Manager level, this means your key purpose is “to lead the activities for Our Business and enable people to deliver them.”

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $102,808 and $108,894 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
