Registered Nurse DOSA - Pre and postoperative services at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Matau a Māui Hawke's Bay, Hawkes Bay

About the Role

The Perioperative Unit employs staff across six areas: Operating Theatres, Day of Surgery admissions (DOSA), Pre-Admission, Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), Sterile Services and the Anaesthesia Unit. We are currently able to offer a Registered Nurses an opportunity to join us and work in DOSA.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Pre-op nursing care begins when the patient is scheduled for surgery until the time the patient is on the surgical table. In order for a patient to transition safely through surgery, the nurse is responsible for assessing the patient's overall risk and preparing the patient mentally and physically for the upcoming procedure. Postoperative care ensures the patient's pain is controlled as the nurse monitors the patient's physical recovery.

About you

If you would like to be part of this patients journey then we would love to hear from you! You will be working with an amazing team of clinical professionals who always strive to do their best for our patients and each other.

You will also require the following key skills and attributes,

  • A current practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, with evidence of meeting continuing competence requirements.
  • Be working toward, or holding a current portfolio assessed via an approved Nursing Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP)
  • At least two years of clinical nursing experience, experience in any of the advertised clinical areas would be beneficial.
  • A commitment to team work with an ability to participate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
