Mō te tūnga | About the role

 

We are seeking a motivated Research Insights Advisor to join our Evidence Based Policing (EBP) Team. In this role you will help New Zealand Police keep Our People and communities safe by enabling the use of an evidence-based approach to our operations.

EBP contributes robust quantitative and qualitative research evidence that informs Police choices and provides confidence that what we as Police do works. We use a range of methods including crime-science and problem-solving methods, as well as drawing from behavioural and social sciences theory and research.

The Research Insights Advisor role is positioned within EBPs Research Insights team, which delivers relevant research, statistical and performance insights for EBP projects and the organisation. Working collaboratively with other EBP teams, they ensure that our outputs reflect the complexities of the real-world operating environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis; and demonstrate a good written and verbal communication style, with practice at tailoring research insights to the needs of different audiences. In performing this role, the Research Insights Advisor will work collaboratively and seamlessly with colleagues across EBP and New Zealand Police to deliver integrated, high quality and innovative work. You will be comfortable working on and supporting long-duration robust research initiatives as well as comfortable pivoting to provide rapid evidence reviews and insights to support during times of urgency.

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant research or evaluation field.
  • Experience designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research projects to inform evidence-based insights, and support delivery of projects.

Good written and verbal communication and well-practiced at simplifying or tailoring complex information to the needs of each audience.

 

 

This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is “to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business”.

Utu ā-tau | Salary


This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $95,057 and $100,626 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
