About the Role
Applications are invited for Paediatric Surgical Registrars commencing in February 2026 as a part of our annual recruitment cycle.

We are seeking enthusiastic registrars to join our dedicated team in Paediatric Surgery at Waikato Hospital based in Hamilton, New Zealand. We are recruiting to permanent positions and encourage applications if you have completed two years post graduate hospital experience, applicants from a variety of surgical experiences will be considered. A commitment to patient centred care and multi-disciplinary teamwork is essential.

About the Team/Service
Te Whatu Ora – Waikato District is one of New Zealand’s largest tertiary and secondary healthcare providers. We provide tertiary services to a region of 900,000 and secondary services to a local district of 375,000, including a growing population of 82,000 children under the age of 15. This gives us the critical mass to be able to offer significant subspecialty exposure whilst still maintaining a breadth of general paediatric experience. Our paediatric surgical team of 5 Registrars / Advanced trainees is part of a multidisciplinary paediatric unit including a child development & child protection service, paediatric medicine and a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit. We have a strong emphasis & excellent reputation in teaching & training, and are committed to the ongoing growth and development of our trainees. Those with research interests enjoy on campus support from the University of Auckland’s Waikato Clinical School & the hospital’s Clinical Audit Support Unit. We are looking for enthusiastic Paediatric registrars committed to team-based patient-centred care.

About you
As a Paediatric Surgery Registrar, you will be have:
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
