About the Role
Applications are invited for the 2026/2027 training year for a Plastic Surgery Fellow at Waikato Hospital.
Seeking a plastic surgery fellow to join our service for one year starting XXX 2026. This role works alongside a medical team comprising around 8 surgery consultants and 11 junior doctors of varying grades.

About the Team/Service
We place a particular emphasis on leadership, teamwork and the wider determinants of health and the elimination of health inequities.
Waikato Hospital has 550 general inpatient beds, performs in excess of 34,000 surgical procedures per year in the 24 theatre operating suite, and sees an average of 220 emergency department presentations per day.
Located in Hamilton city, the third largest city in North Island; 1 hour drive south of Auckland, and offers a superb lifestyle and quality-of-life working environment. As the largest employer in Hamilton, there is a varied and approachable social network based around the hospital. It is within easy reach of both West Coast surfing and East Coast leisure beaches. The Ruapehu Ski-fields are three hours’ drive away, and there are outstanding opportunities for hiking, sailing, fishing, biking and many other outdoor activities within the Waikato, and throughout New Zealand.
About you
The plastics fellow role would suit a candidate who is well advanced in their plastic surgery training, seeking to develop skills in specific areas before becoming a consultant. You will participate in the registrar on-call roster which will include long days and weekends, requiring an ability to manage hand and burn trauma along with other reconstructive emergencies.
