About the Team/Service/ Location

Our department consists of ten Physicians in General Medicine with a wide variety of sub-speciality interests, as well as an outpatient cardiology team, specialist nurses, and visiting sub-specialists. We are accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for Basic and Advanced Trainees.

Gisborne Hospital is a 110-bed acute care hospital that serves a wide geographical area extending up the East Cape of New Zealand, creating enormous scope and variety in the clinical work. Providing healthcare to a population of 54,000, Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti is well supported locally by comprehensive surgical services and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner. We have strong ties with our tertiary referral centre in Waikato.

About you

· Suitable for Resident Medical Officers PGY3 and above.

· Applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

· You will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ. For more information on visa requirements please visit the Immigration NZ website 

· Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth

· Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks is a bonus, commitment to the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches is expected, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
