  • 50-54.9 hours per week

About the Role

Taranaki Base Hospital are seeking to appoint one additional non-training anaesthetic registrar to work alongside 6 ANZCA accredited trainees. The clinical duties and responsibilities of this role will be identical to those of a first-year anaesthetic trainee and hence fulfilling the anaesthetic requirements for those undertaking ICU, ED or Rural Medicine training programmes, accredited for 12 months training.

About you

Candidates should be PGY3 or greater and must already be enrolled in the ICU, ED or Rural Medicine training programme. 
Your main duties to be performed in the main operating theatres with occasional duties in other areas including:

· Delivery Suite

· Outpatient/Day Surgery Suite

· X Ray, C.T. Scan Department

· A&E Resuscitation

· I.C.U.

· Acute Pain Service, Ward rounds and Teaching Responsibility

· Preassessment of patients for Anaesthesia and Surgery

· Administration of anaesthesia, supervision of recovery and involvement with postoperative care, particularly the management of acute postoperative pain

· Involvement in the Intensive Care management of patients as required

· Management of emergency cases under Specialist supervision
