About the Role
We are seeking an Emergency Medicine (ED) House Officer to join our Emergency Department here at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
Our department is accredited as a tier 2 non-major referral site for training with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM). You’ll benefit with learning opportunities, setting you up for success if you wish to pursue an Emergency Medicine career.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The successful candidate would join a team of 16 Emergency Medicine Physicians, 1 Medical Officer, 15 Registrars, 8 House Officers and 4 Nurse Practitioners.
Our Emergency Department handles around 50,000 attendances per year, with a 30% admission rate. The general patient acuity is high, with a significant volume of major trauma cases. We operate four observation unit beds, providing care for a wide range of conditions.
Hawke’s Bay Hospital is a 400-bed secondary level public hospital in Hastings, serving a population of over 180,000 people. We offer both acute and elective care across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, including paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, and more. Although we don’t provide cardiothoracic and neurosurgery, we are supported by a strong regional ICU team, ensuring comprehensive care for a diverse patient population.

About you
- You’re a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) PGY3, although we will also consider applications from PGY2s for the second half of the training year
- You are registered or eligible for general registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand
