Business Coordinator at Government Communications Security Bureau, Wellington

At the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, our mission is to protect and enhance Aotearoa New Zealand's security and wellbeing. We provide Signals Intelligence and Cyber Security and resilience to organisations of national significance to successfully navigate in an unpredictable world.

About the role

As the Business Coordinators within our Technology & Data Directorate, you will work cross-functionally to help the directorate deliver its mission focused functions and objectives by providing a range of coordination and professional support services. You will be responsible for providing efficient and effective support to senior managers and leaders, as well as the wider directorate as required.

Your role will consist of core business support responsibilities such as diary and inbox management, preparing agendas for meetings, event support and coordination, updating and preparing documentation, and providing general administrative support.

This role is Wellington based and works closely with the directorate's the leadership team. It is key that you are adaptable to a changing environment, as often no two days are the same.

Who are we looking for

Ideally you will have experience supporting or working closely with senior level managers and leadership teams. Strong communication skills will be crucial in this role, along with the ability to engage with a diverse range of people at all levels, so a background in customer service would be highly beneficial.

We are also looking for someone who has the following skills and attributes:

  • A can-do attitude with a high level of initiative
  • Well organised and able to manage multiple priorities, anticipate the needs of others, and meet deadlines
  • Confident working with senior leaders
  • Adaptable in a changing environment
  • Strong administrative skills and an eye for detail
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills 
  • The ability to think creatively to solve problems


Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
