We are pleased to open applications for a Whanau Support Worker in our Infant Maternal Mental Health team here at Community Mental Health and Addiction services, Gisborne Hospital, Tairāwhiti. 

Position Description: Whānau Support Infant Maternal Mental Health

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team spans Community mental health and Addictions, the inpatient unit, acute services, and ICAMHS, working collaboratively to provide holistic, culturally responsive care across the full spectrum of mental health needs in the Tairāwhiti region.

As a Whanau Support Worker, you will work closely with our Registered Nurse and Peer support worker for Infant Maternal Mental Health along with whaiora, specifically their whanau and community groups, providing seamless, integrated service delivery. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes key partners like Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti Maternity Unit, Midwives, Plunket, Mama Pēpē services, and other vital agencies working with perinatal whanau/families and babies from 0 to 12 months.

About you

· Dedication in delivering culturally appropriate support.

· Ability to manage complex situations while maintaining a compassionate and whanau-centered approach.

. Willing to follow direction and guidance from the team

. Reliability and good time management skills are essential

· Applicants must have a full and current drivers licence.

· Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth

· Experience in projects/initiatives, which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
