Practice Supervisor - Speech Language Therapy at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Auckland

About the Role

We have an exciting leadership opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist Practice Supervisor to lead our team of enthusiastic and passionate SLTs within the Community SLT team. This 12-month fixed-term full-time position is based between Greenlane Clinical Centre and Kahui Marino (Pt Chevalier Clinical hub), combines professional and people leadership, service development and quality improvements, with clinical practice. 

The Practice Supervisor role carries a clinical caseload and provides operational and clinical leadership to the Community SLT team. They demonstrate effective clinical reasoning and model senior level evidence-informed practice, teaching, and applying knowledge of appropriate educating skills. You will have the collegial support of the other Allied Health Practice Supervisors in Adult Community Services, and support from your Service Lead, Allied Health Clinical and Quality Lead and your Professional Lead.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Community SLT team incorporates both the Community Rehabilitation SLT team and the Allied Health Community SLT team. We offer therapy to clients with a range of communication and swallowing disorders due to a wide variety of conditions, and services are provided in the community, home, clinic and telehealth settings.

About you

As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • New Zealand Registered SLT with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Full, clean NZ Drivers’ License
  • 7 + years clinical experience; mentoring and coaching experience desirable
  • Appropriate supervision training or progress towards completion
  • Excellent clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practice
  • At least Level 3 or progress towards Level 4 VFSS competencies desirable
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary, bicultural environment
  • Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
  • A flexible, pro-active approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
