Mō tō mātou Rōpū | About the team 

The Regulatory Policy Design team is one of several teams in the Regulatory Frameworks Group. It is a diverse and skilled team that provides a vital link across Maritime NZ and the Maritime sector. The team is responsible for the overall regulatory policy framework, development and maintenance of maritime rules and implementation oversights. Its work covers varied and fascinating subject matter delivering regulatory policy outcomes in areas ranging from from decarbonisation, emerging technologies, workforce improvements and safety at sea to working with stakeholders and across government.

Te tūnga | The role

We are looking for solutions focused, big picture policy thinkers, with ability to look at options outside the obvious. You will be an experienced policy professional who enjoys making connections and are keen to contribute your skills and experience across teams and the organisation.

Nōu te rourou | What you bring 

  • Proven experience and knowledge of regulatory and/or policy design
  • Experience implementing regulatory policy would be an advantage
  • A knowledge of regulatory reform processes would be an advantage
  • Project oversight experience
  • Sound experience in an advisory or analyst role within central government
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Experience providing advice to wide range of audiences, to translate principles into action/application
  • Experience contributing and taking the lead in policy projects and programmes of work
  • Successful track record as a proactive and innovative thinker who is willing to involve others to look at problems from different perspectives and develop fresh solutions
  • Aptitude for fostering positive working relationships with people across all levels of an organisation
  • Collaborative working style and commitment to a positive team culture
