Enrolled Nurse - Outpatients at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Hutt Valley, Lower Hutt

Contract:  Permanent part time - 0.8 FTE

About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity in our busy Outpatient Department for an experienced Enrolled Nurse.  You will be joining our multi-disciplinary team working in a clinic environment.

You will need to be able to readily build rapport with patients, clinicians and other staff to achieve quality outcomes for patients. Outpatients is people focused providing personalised high quality of care across the life span. 

We are looking for an Enrolled Nurse who are looking for a long term commitment who are keen to develop their skills and knowledge. You will be supported by other health professionals working within the multi-disciplinary team. The salary range for this role is NZNO Nursing MECA $69,934 - $83,349 based on experience, pro rata.

 About the Team/Service/ Location 

Outpatients covers various specialities including; Gynaecology, Surgical, Medical, Pre-assessment, ENT, Eyes and Orthopaedics. We have a happy supportive team who work together to achieve the best outcomes for our people and their families.

About you 

  • Experienced Enrolled Nurse working in New Zealand Health Care setting
  • Strong nursing knowledge base
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, valuing each member - s role in patient care.
  • Clear, compassionate communication with patients, whānau, and colleagues - especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Respect for diverse backgrounds and a commitment to equitable, culturally appropriate care
  • Comfort with a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly.
  • A caring approach that supports patients and their whānau through injury and recovery
  • Precision in documentation, assessment, and follow-up to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Ability to think critically and respond to clinical challenges with sound judgment.
  • Capacity to manage stress, support others, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Willingness to stay updated with best practices, new technologies, and evolving clinical guidelines.

You will show sensitivity in different situations as you will be dealing with a wide range of people including members of the public and hospital staff. You will need to have an understanding of the Privacy Act. 

In order to be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Knowledge and experience in the New Zealand Health Care Setting 
  • An ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple priorities
  • Competence in using computers 
  • An ability  to quickly learn new web based clinical applications as required for the role
  • A passion for working in an Outpatient Setting 
  • Excellent time management skills and communication skills
  • Experience in working with a multi-disciplinary team
  • A sensitive approach to individualising care
  • Excellent cultural awareness and safety 
  • Resilience in a very busy environment
