Clinical Administrator | Christchurch Health Campus at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waitaha Canterbury, Christchurch

Are you a compassionate and organised administrator with a passion for providing exceptional care and support to women navigating sensitive health journeys? Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced Clinical Administrator to join our dedicated Female Pelvic Mesh Service team.

This is a unique opportunity to support a vital service that ensures women can access the care they need in a timely, respectful, and person-centred way. As often the first point of contact, you will help create a warm, welcoming experience for consumers and whānau, and be instrumental in the smooth operation of the service.

As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 5/Profile 5

About the Role

The Clinical Administrator plays a central role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the integrity of the Female Pelvic Mesh Service. This includes:

  • Providing responsive and empathetic customer service to consumers, whānau, and clinical staff
  • Coordinating and managing bookings for inpatient and outpatient appointments
  • Working collaboratively with surgeons, the wider service team, and Te Whatu Ora staff to manage waiting lists
  • Managing consumer enquiries with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Delivering front-line reception and telephone duties, including meeting and greeting patients and whānau
  • Supporting the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) with timely and accurate administration
  • Contributing to service improvement initiatives that reduce barriers and enhance access for women
  • Upholding our commitment to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all aspects of the role
  • Providing cover for other administrative team members when needed

About You

You will be a proactive, empathetic professional who thrives in a busy and sensitive healthcare environment. You will have:

  • NCEA Level 2 (essential) - computing/information management (desirable) or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Proven administration experience (essential), ideally in a healthcare setting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with compassion and empathy
  • A high level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Patient Management Systems
  • Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology and healthcare processes (desirable)
  • An understanding of the impact of surgical mesh harm in New Zealand (desirable)
