Clinical Nurse Specialist - Crisis Resolution - South/East Column at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waitaha Canterbury, Christchurch

About the Role

The Crisis Resolution Service is co located together as one team, and an integral part of each Adult Community Mental Health Team, providing 24-hour assessment treatment and support for people experiencing psychiatric crisis.

This 1FTE, permanent role offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and motivated individual who is looking to expand their career pathway and take on a clinical leadership role.  Predominantly working Monday to Friday day shift though could be asked to cover other shifts as required. This role sits alongside the current CNS and CSWS. The roles combined cover the day and afternoon shifts.

With your proven ability to lead, you will be an expert at developing and extending nursing practice, assisting with performance appraisals, auditing, quality improvement, and providing overall clinical expertise and mentorship within the crisis resolution teams, enabling them to continue to deliver a high standard of care.

Skills and Experience

  • Experienced, Specialist Mental Health Nurse, minimum of three years of Mental Health Nursing,  registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC - must include scope for Mental Health Nursing.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the health sector and issues affecting tāngata whaiora and equality of healthcare.
  • Adhere to guidelines of Cultural Safety and has experience in implementing the Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
  • Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Expert clinical nursing knowledge and leadership ability.
  • Extensive experience working within mental health is essential - you will hold a relevant post graduate qualification or be working towards one.
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
  • As a role model it is expected you will engage with nursing staff and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure effective relationships are developed and maintained, therefore your integrity, excellent interpersonal skills, effective organisational and time management skills and clinical credibility are imperative to the success of this role
