Were proud to be part of the nationally led Maternity Quality and Safety Programme (MQSP) - a cornerstone of continuous improvement in maternity services across Aotearoa.
Were seeking a passionate and experienced midwife to lead the coordination of the MQSP in Te Matau a Māui Hawkes Bay.
In this role, youll be at the heart of our efforts to improve outcomes for māma, pēpi, and whānau. Youll work collaboratively with clinical teams, consumer representatives, and national stakeholders to deliver evidence-based improvements, drive innovation, and ensure our services reflect the needs of our community.
Youll also lead clinical audits, produce the annual clinical report, and support the implementation of quality and safety initiatives across the maternity service.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Youll be based in the Maternity Service at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital, working closely with the Chief Midwife, Te Kaihaukura Māori Midwife Lead, midwifery teams, consumer representatives, and wider clinical and support staff.
Our service is guided by Te Mauri o Rongo and the Hau Te Kura review, which emphasises culturally safe, whānau-centred care and equity for Māori and Pasifika.

About you
Youre a registered midwife with a strong background in clinical practice and a passion for improving maternity outcomes. Youll bring:
- A current New Zealand Midwifery Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- At least 5 years of relevant midwifery experience.
- A postgraduate qualification or study in a relevant field (e.g., quality improvement, leadership, public health).
- Proven skills in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and clinical governance.
- Confidence in interpreting data, writing reports, and leading audits.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice.
- Desired: Knowledge of the health sectors political and legislative landscape, and experience leading teams within the sector.
