Clinical Nurse Educator - Mental Health ED

Part-time (0.6 FTE) over 4 days per week 

Rotorua & Taupo

About the Role

The Mental Health and Addiction Services (MHAS) Clinical Nurse Educator role is designed to build the capability and confidence of staff working in the Emergency Departments to individuals presenting with mental health needs or in distress. The Clinical Nurse Educator will be an expert in mental health and addiction nursing and will be able to educate and empower ED staff through coaching, mentoring and supervision.

Another aspect to the role is ability to assist ED staff with Acute Response Team (ART) processes and provide on-site support. The essential skills and knowledge requirements are included within the scope of the New Zealand Nursing Council Te kaunihera Tapuhi o Aotearoa and you must hold a current Annual Practising Certificate.

About You

  • Experienced acute mental health nurse whom has worked in a crisis setting.
  • Expertise in in de-escalation and managing crisis situations
  • Confidence & ability to teach/mentor others.
  • Experience in a similar type role would be an asset.
  • Follows the principles of the Te Ara Tauwhirotanga Pathways that lead us to act with kindness Model of Care
