About the role

Crisis Resolution provides 24-hour assessment, treatment and support for people experiencing serious mental health issues. The team comprises of Registered Nurses, Allied Health, Psychology and Medical professionals and is support by a strong and dynamic multi-disciplinary leadership group.

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic registered nurses to join our crisis resolution team. In this role you will:

  • Provide timely mental health assessments, crisis interventions and short-term intensive treatment
  • Work collaboratively with service users, whanau/families, and partner agencies to ensure safe and effective care
  • Work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment where no two days are the same

About You

As a professional and highly motivated Registered Nurse who displays a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work, you will enjoy being part of a committed and diverse multidisciplinary team, you will work in collaboration with a group of professionals that recognises the importance of providing quality care and services to their clients, friends and whānau. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, and in collaboration with our clients and their whānau, primary care, community supports and our inpatient teams, your ability to think on your feet, triage and prioritize your patients appropriately in a timely manner is essential. 

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, the following is required:

  • RN with current APC and mental health scope
  • Have a full New Zealand driver's license
  • Experience in mental health settings preferred (ideally in crisis or acute areas). However, support and education will be provided for the right candidate
  • Skilled in risk assessment, crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Able to remain calm, compassionate and solution focused under pressure
  • A strong communicator who thrives in a team but can also work autonomously
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Ideally you will be a Duly Authorised Officer who has been trained and signed off as being able facilitate the MHA, if not currently a DAO, applicants for this position will be required to undertake this paid three day DAO training as provided by the Waitaha Canterbury.
