Clinical Nurse Specialist - Gynaecology at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau, Northland

About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will utilise specialist nursing knowledge and expertise to provide patient centred care, across the continuum of care, to optimise the patients journey, improve equitable health outcomes and ensure excellent quality of care is provided to patients and whanau requiring Urology care.

You will provide expert clinical guidance on pessary care by combining evidence-based womens health knowledge with a Māori-centred approach that upholds tikanga, whanaungatanga, and equity. This means educating patients/whānau and staff not only on pessary use and management, but also embedding cultural safety, shared decision-making, and quality improvement into everyday unit practice.

The Gynaecology Outpatient Department at Te Tai Tokerau is a dynamic, patient-centred service dedicated to delivering high-quality, culturally responsive care for the Northland community. Grounded in a Māori-centred approach, we place whānau at the heart of every decision, ensuring care is safe, equitable, and respectful of tikanga and wairua.

Our close-knit team of Medical Officers, Registered Nurses, and Clerical Staff work collaboratively to provide excellence in gynaecology care. We value every team members contribution, fostering a supportive environment where professional growth, cultural safety, and innovation in womens health are encouraged.

Together, we are committed to improving outcomes for wāhine and whānau across Te Tai Tokerau, upholding manaakitanga and striving for continuous quality improvement in all aspects of our service.

About you

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you are skilled in building rapport and relating well to others, fostering harmonious and supportive working relationships, and promoting teamwork and cooperation with a positive attitude.

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate
  • At least 7 years post registration experience
  • Relevant Post Graduate Diploma in specialty area
  • At least 3 years experience in relevant specialty area
  • Designated Senior Nurse PDRP or Expert PDRP (demonstrating clinical examples)
  • Knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles
  • Full New Zealand driving licence
  • Masters degree or working towards is desired
