Alcohol and Drug Clinician - CADS Altered High Youth

  • Permanent, Full-time
  • 1 FTE - 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Based in Kingsland

About us

CADS Altered High Youth Service is a vibrant and innovative service for young people and significant others who present with concerns about their own or someone elses alcohol and other drug issues. We provide a service that strives to improve the quality standards of clinical practice while supporting the professional growth and development of our valued team.

About the role

This role involves supporting and empowering young people and their whānau to achieve treatment goals within a harm reduction framework through innovative service provision. The role aims to enhance the interface and liaison between Te Whatu Ora Waitematā, key stakeholders and our service users.

About you

You will be working as part of a lively, highly skilled team of clinicians who are passionate about the well-being of the rangatahi they engage with, therefore your enthusiasm, knowledge and skill in this field is paramount.

Essential 

  • A recognised health-related tertiary qualification
  • Full or provisional registration with a relevant professional body (dapaanz, nursing, social work, counselling or related fields)
  • Relevant knowledge and experience working with rangatahi and their families / whānau
  • Knowledge of the concepts and implications of harm reduction and evidence-based AOD interventions
  • Experience with clinical assessment, treatment planning and goal setting in relation to substance use and/or mental health issues
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective therapeutic and professional relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work
  • Full drivers licence

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience working with health and social services.
  • Experience in counselling and capacity to facilitate evening groups if needed
  • Relevant postgraduate health or education-related tertiary qualification
  • Relevant training in family work
