At the Electoral Commission, we work to help New Zealanders participate in democracy and have confidence in the electoral system. As part of our Enterprise Services Group, the Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in strengthening financial performance and ensuring the organisation has accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information to support planning and decision-making.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | about the role
As our Senior Financial Analyst, you will lead the delivery of high-quality financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and advice across the organisation, with a particular focus on supporting the Operations Group.
You will develop insightful dashboards and reports, support the annual and quarterly reporting cycles, contribute to strategic planning documents, and provide evidence-based advice that helps leaders make sound financial decisions. You’ll also support managers with budgeting, cost analysis, variance investigations, and compliance monitoring.
This is a collaborative role that requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships across the organisation.
This is an 18 month fixed term role the salary band for this role is $127k-$134k
Mōhou ake | About you
You must have at least 6 years financial analysis experience ideally in the public sector. You will also bring:
- Proven experience in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and public sector financial management principles
- Advanced skills in financial modelling, analysis tools, and reporting systems
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to provide expert advice
- Relevant tertiary qualification; CA/CPA (or working towards) is desirable
