Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Transnational Organised Crime (TNOC) Strategy refresh will provide a comprehensive, whole-of-Government end-to-end approach to tackle transnational, serious and organised crime and support communities to minimise the harm caused by it. It will bring together a significant number of government agencies with a response and resilience approach, to make it harder for organised criminal groups to gain footholds in their communities.
The TNOC Fusion Centre is hosted by New Zealand Police but sits within the multi-agency Strategy and Governance structures. The team produce all-source strategic intelligence assessments, identify system vulnerabilities, and guide the prioritisation of initiatives, effort, and resource at the system level.
As an Intelligence Analyst at the TNOC Fusion Centre, you will grow your intelligence capability in a dynamic multi-agency environment and support the strategic analysis of complex issues across the TNOC sector.
You will demonstrate professional curiosity and adaptive approaches, applying analytic tools, techniques and methodologies to provide insight and foresight on complex TNOC problems and issues. You will use your critical thinking skills to develop compelling messages and be a good written and verbal communicator who can confidently deliver verbal briefings to clients across the multi-agency environment.
You will be enthusiastic, flexible and a fast learner who can easily adapt to different business needs and processes and continue your journey of learning and development as a skilled Intelligence Professional.
Key Accountabilities:
- Produce strategic intelligence assessments that offer useful insight and foresight on a range of TNOC issues.
- With support, undertake multi-agency collection activities selecting varied and appropriate sources and agencies
- Evaluate wide ranging information from multiple sources to identify patterns, relationships and gaps.
- Identify emerging problems, trends, and opportunities.
- Enable decision makers through communicating accurate, brief, clear, timely and relevant products that are suitable for a wide audience.
- Establish and maintain partnerships relevant to the success of intelligence processes and outputs.

- Strategic intelligence experience is preferable
- An understanding of transnational organised crime is desirable
- Hold basic intelligence qualifications
- Successful applicants must reside in Wellington or must be willing to relocate.

To be eligible for this role, you must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:
- A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
- A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87,306 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
