Healthcare Assistant - Kurawaka Waipapa at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury, Christchurch

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for two Healthcare Assistants to join our team in a casual capacity at Kurawaka Waipapa - Birthing Unit located in central Christchurch.

A Healthcare Assistant is an integral part of our team. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to use their initiative.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting staff in providing quality patient care
  • Assisting in keeping the patient's environment clean and tidy
  • Ensuring the ward is appropriately stocked
  • Maintaining a safe working environment at all times

About the Service

Kurawaka Waipapa is a birthing unit with 4 birthing rooms containing birthing pools and 20 postnatal rooms. 

The Canterbury Waitaha and West Coast Te Tai o Poutini Maternity System has a dynamic, dedicated and specialised team of health professionals working within both our purpose built, secondary/tertiary maternity facilities and our Community Birthing Units.

About You

We are seeking candidates that are kind, empathetic and passionate about helping māmā, pēpi, and whānau from all walks of life. It is important you are able to use your initiative and possess a strong work ethic.

  • Healthcare Assistant experience in a similar environment
  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Level 3 (desirable)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to achieve accuracy and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work unsupervised as well as in a team
