About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Non-Clinical Support

• Provide support across all Outpatient clinics, including medical, surgical, paediatric and orthopaedic services.
• Assist with preparing clinic rooms, restocking consumables, ensuring equipment is clean, available and in working order.
• Respect and maintain patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
• Respond courteously and promptly to patient enquiries and direct them to appropriate staff when required.
• Assist orderlies and other staff with patient movement to diagnostic procedures.
• Carry out tasks professionally while working under clinical supervision.

Department Support & Housekeeping

• Maintain tidy, well-organised storerooms, clinic spaces, and sluice rooms.
• Replace linen and rubbish bags as required to support timely clinic turnover.
• Ensure clean linen supply is maintained throughout the day.
• Refill consumables and ensure items are stored correctly and safely.
• Redeployment to other areas may be required to support service needs.

Administrative & Ward Clerk Support

• Learn and support basic ward clerk duties as required.
• Assist with booking enquiries, patient flow, and general clerical tasks.
• Use computer systems and software such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. 

About You

Essential

• Computer literate with the ability to learn new systems.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to respecting patient privacy, dignity and cultural needs.
• A team player with a proactive and supportive attitude.
• Ability to accept responsibility and follow instructions safely and professionally.

Desirable

• NZQA Level 3 Health Care Assistant qualification (or working towards).
• Previous experience in a health care environment.
