  • Offering an hourly rate of $26.00 p/hr plus 8% holiday pay

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are interested to hear from people who have a caring nature and are family orientated for our Family Home Reliever roles.

Our Family Home Relievers provide routine for our tamariki and rangatahi and maintain a safe, caring, responsible and supportive family environment on a 24/7 basis.

The mahi is rewarding and varied. You will be responsible for:

  • Day to day care of children and young people,
  • Providing emotional support to vulnerable children,
  • Coordinating transport to and from appointments and activities,
  • Working in an Oranga Tamariki family home providing meal preparation, helping with homework, and maintaining a comfortable nurturing environment.
We’re looking for casual team members to work on an as-needed basis. Shifts will vary depending on business requirements, and there is no guarantee of ongoing or regular hours. Availability across weekdays and weekends is preferred

 

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Passion and resilience to manage and support children and young people with varied needs
  • Positive attitude and role model along with an enthusiasm for your work
  • Proven or some experience in caregiving, community work or working with young people
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
  • Behaviour management / conflict resolution skills
  • Have a calm and professional manner
  • Excellent, listening, oral, written and observation skills
  • Must hold a current full clean driver's licence as you will need to drive fleet vehicles 
  • Ability to pass the background checks, which includes police and Oranga Tamariki vetting (The clean slate does not apply to this role)
  • Provide professional references from current and previous employers
