About the Role
As a Nurse Unit Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective operational management of Perioperative Services (Theatres, Surgical Admissions Unit (SAU), Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), Pre Assessment Clinic and Pain Service) that delivers care to patients and whānau in Te Tai Tokerau.
The Nurse Unit Manager role has nursing professional and management accountability within a multidisciplinary team for clinical care, quality and safety, workforce, service delivery and the implementation of designated nursing and directorate strategy for the services. The role provides clinical and nursing leadership and management to ensure the effective day-to-day operation of services and contributes to the delivery of directorate objectives, and nursing and organisational strategy.
The Nurse Unit Manager is a senior nursing role and is responsible for leading and managing people, systems, processes and resources that facilitate efficient and effective service delivery and for ensuring a safe and expected standard of patient care.

About you
As a Nurse Unit Manager, you will bring expert clinical nursing knowledge and skills while being able to participate in change management projects across the service and organisation wide. To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current practicing certificate
- Minimum of seven years experience post registration in perioperative nursing specialty
- A current Designated Senior Nurse Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) Portfolio
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and a sound understanding of professional ethics
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience in change, financial management, and quality improvement
- Demonstrate an understanding of the articles and principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply the principles in a meaningful way in your role
